Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE)

Through this exercise, eligible GCE O-Level certificate holders can apply online for admission to junior colleges (JC), Millennia Institute (MI), polytechnics, and Institute of Technical Education (ITE). Learn about the process, how to prepare and apply.

The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) is conducted in January after the release of GCE O-Level results.

Eligible applicants can apply for admission to JC, MI, polytechnics and ITE by submitting your online application through the JAE Internet System (JAE-IS).

JAE eligibility

Your eligibility to participate in the JAE depends on your citizenship and whether you have participated in similar post-secondary admission exercises. Learn more about the factors that affect eligibility.

If you have taken the 2024 GCE O-Level examination and are eligible for JAE, you will also receive Form A on your eligible courses. Learn more about Form A and how to interpret it.

Verify your CCA records

Ensure that the CCA attainment in your CCA record is accurate as CCA bonus points will be used to calculate your net aggregate scores for determining polytechnic course eligibility and for JAE posting. Inform your school immediately of any discrepancies.

Net aggregate score = Gross aggregate score minus bonus points

Release of O-Level results

If you have taken the 2024 O-Level examinations, you will receive an email on your eligibility to participate in the JAE on the afternoon of O-Level results release day.

If you are eligible for JAE, the same email will include Form A which has:

  • Your gross aggregate scores for aggregate types of JC, MI, polytechnic and ITE.
  • The courses that you are eligible to apply in the JAE.
6 calendar days starting from the day of the O-Level results release

Apply

Before the JAE application period, apply for a Singpass. You can only submit your application through the JAE-IS using your Singpass.

The JAE application starts from 4pm on Friday, 10 January 2025 and ends at 4pm on Wednesday, 15 January 2025 (tentative).

During this period, you must submit your application through the JAE-IS (available 24-hour).

Release of posting results

JAE posting results will be released through:

  • SMS, which is sent to the local mobile number in your application.
  • JAE-IS, which can be accessed using your Singpass.

Acceptance of offer

If posted to a JC or MI course

You will report to the school on the morning of Wednesday, 5 February 2025 (tentative), in your secondary school uniform.

If posted to a polytechnic course

You will receive an email with the enrolment instructions by end February.

If posted to an ITE course

You will receive an email with the enrolment instructions on Tuesday, 4 February 2025 (tentative).

Approach the school of your choice directly.

To appeal for a place in a polytechnic or the ITE

Apply on the JAE Online Appeal Portal from 9am on Tuesday, 4 February 2025 to 4pm on Friday, 7 February 2025 (tentative).
