Art Elective Programme for junior college
The Art Elective Programme (AEP) is a 2-year programme offered in selected junior colleges that allows students with artistic potential, aptitude and passion to pursue an in-depth study of art.
Overview
The pre-university-level AEP is a 2-year programme which allows students with artistic potential, aptitude and passion to pursue an in-depth study of art.
AEP students can expect:
- An extended and balanced curriculum comprising both studio practice and art criticism components.
- To explore and engage with a range of materials, media and creative processes.
- Access to specialised studio facilities, equipment and resources.
- Learning experiences including workshops, exhibition showcases and community projects.
- Opportunities to learn from arts industry professionals and higher education students and staff.
- H2 and H3 Art syllabuses to be offered at A-Level.

Who can take it
Students who pass the AEP selection exercise conducted by schools.
Selection exercise involves:
- Short art tasks
- Review of portfolio

How to join
Interested students are encouraged to seek admission into AEP junior colleges.
Students must attend and pass the selection exercise conducted by the school at the beginning of JC1.
Fees, subsidy and scholarship- AEP students do not need to pay any additional school fees.
- Students enrolled in Hwa Chong Institution are eligible for school fee subsidy with a cap of $2,400 per student yearly.
- Singapore citizens may be eligible for the Art Elective Scholarship.
Note:
- Fee subsidy applies to all nationalities.
- Edusave Scholarships for Independent Schools (ESIS) awardees receiving the maximum ESIS coverage of $2,400 will not receive the fee subsidy in addition to their ESIS award amount.
