ECG lessons have been incorporated into the Form-Teacher Guidance Periods (FTGP) package since March 2012. These lessons cover an array of topics meant to allow students to discover their interests, abilities and career aspirations as well as to gain more understanding and awareness of the secondary education landscape.
Students from Primary 5 onwards can also utilise the MySkillsFuture Student Portal for further exploration.

Education and Career Guidance in schools
Education and Career Guidance (ECG) is part of Character and Citizenship Education (CCE). Find out what your child learns in ECG.
ECG develops each student's self-identity and ability to make education and career choices. To meet students’ developmental needs, ECG implementation in schools emphasises different aspects as students progress from primary to post-secondary school levels. ECG lessons and experiences, complemented by the MySkillsFuture Student Portal, enable students to make informed education and career choices, and empower them for lifelong learning.
ECG lessons are conducted within the CCE curriculum. The focus at the Secondary level is to allow students to develop self-awareness, explore possible career pathways and discover various education options.
Schools can enhance the curriculum through designing customised student development experiences such as career talks or fairs, Post-Secondary Education Institution (PSEI) open house visits, etc.

At the junior colleges and Millennia Institute, ECG is part of the CCE curriculum. The focus at the Pre-University level is for students to crystalise their career self-concept and to make well-informed decisions and education and career plans.
In addition, schools can enhance the curriculum through customised student development experiences such as visits to industries or universities, career talks and work shadowing arrangements.
