Question

To ask the Minister for Education what proportion of undergraduate students currently studying at (i) the National University of Singapore (ii) Nanyang Technological University and (iii) all other autonomous universities are non-Singaporeans from high-income countries and receiving tuition grants or fee offsets for their studies.

Response

1. MOE's tuition grants are awarded based on an applicant's merit, rather than their country of origin or its income level. All international students who receive the tuition grant are required to work in Singapore or in a Singapore-based company for at least three years upon graduation, as part of their service obligation. 80% of international students at the AUs receive tuition grants while the remainder are paying full fees.
