1st Text Recital Competition for Primary and Secondary Schools

More than 500 students from over 90 primary and secondary schools participated in the inaugural School Text Recital Competition held on 19 May 2018 at Anderson Primary School. The competition aimed to raise students’ Chinese Language reading proficiency, ignite students’ love for learning the Chinese Language, and deepen their understanding of the Chinese texts found in their textbooks.
2. Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education was the Guest-of-Honour at the competition. It was supported by Anderson Primary School, the Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society and Sg Writings Culture Association.
3. The competition comprised four categories: Lower Primary; Upper Primary; Lower Secondary; Upper Secondary and Pre-University.
4. This competition followed the Primary and Secondary Chinese Literary Text Recitation conducted last year, where primary and secondary CL teachers recited passages from Chinese textbooks - giving them the opportunity to explore the in-depth meaning of the passages. Prior to today’s competition, more than 800 primary and secondary school teachers and students had taken part in the recitation workshop held at Anderson Primary School on Saturday, 24 February 2018.
