Minister for Education to Attend Prize Ceremony of 2nd Singapore-India Joint Hackathon in Chennai

1. Minister for Education, Mr Ong Ye Kung, will attend the Prize Ceremony of the 2nd Singapore-India Joint Hackathon in Chennai, India as the Guest-of-Honour on 30 September 2019.
2. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had mooted the idea of the Hackathon and graced the inaugural edition in Singapore last year, will also be in attendance. Besides Prime Minister Modi, Minister Ong will engage other Indian political, government, and business leaders during the visit.
3. Co-organised by Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, India’s Ministry for Human Resource Development, and the All India Council for Technical Education, this year’s Hackathon brings together 120 university students from Singapore and India to develop innovative solutions to shared challenges in education, healthcare, and green energy.
4. During the trip, Minister Ong will also visit Mamallapuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is prominently featured in our secondary schools’ Tamil Language curriculum. Minister Ong will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education.
