This year, a record of more than 1,500 students from approximately 190 schools submitted close to 900 video entries for the fourth annual edition of the Text Recital Competition for primary and secondary schools. In view of the COVID-19 situation, this year's finals saw the online judging of video entries instead of live recital performances at a physical event. Contestants were judged according to their choice of texts, voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, and stage presence.
2. Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), Ms Sun Xueling, graced the virtual awards ceremony on 24 July 2021 as Guest-of-Honour, where she congratulated the winners and affirmed the efforts of all participants.
3. Organised by CPCLL, in collaboration with Anderson Primary School and the Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society, this competition aimed to raise students' Chinese language reading proficiency, ignite their love for learning the language, and deepen their understanding of the Chinese texts in their textbooks.
4. Prior to the competition, close to 700 teachers and students participated in two virtual recitation workshops conducted by the Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society. Through engaging and lively presentations, they learned about recitation techniques and how to improve their recitation skills.
