Launch of "Xin Kong Xia 2021" Song Compilation to Showcase Students' Singing and Songwriting Skills

The Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) has compiled 12 original songs composed by student-winners from the 2021 National Schools Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition into a special album "Xin Kong Xia 2021" to showcase student's singing and songwriting skills. The students sought inspirations for their songs from everyday themes such as family, friendship, love and school life, as well as stories found in their Chinese curriculum.
2 Launched on 19 March 2022 by Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the CPCLL, Ms Sun Xueling, the album aims to promote xinyao as part of our cultural heritage, and instil the joy of learning the Chinese language through listening, singing and composing songs.
3 The album features 《Kopi-O》, 《梦在远方，心系着家》, and 《我们的故事》, which are the winning entries of the Songwriting (Creative) category, Songwriting (Open) category and the Lyrics Writing category respectively. These songs were also selected to be produced into music videos. All twelve songs and the three music videos will be available on the CPCLL website at https://www.cpcll.sg/xinkongxia.
2022 Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition
4 Co-organised by CPCLL, Jurong Pioneer Junior College, Lianhe Zaobao and TCR Music Station, the 2022 Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition will be open to students from secondary schools, junior colleges, Millennia Institute, Institutes of Technical Education, polytechnics and the autonomous universities. This year, a special category has been introduced for teachers and students to sign up together as a group to join the competition. Students can sign up for the competition from April 2022.
5 Students can also look forward to attending a Music Camp to improve their songwriting techniques, singing and performance skills as well as Music Appreciation Sessions taking place in schools.
6 The 2022 Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition and "Xin Kong Xia 2021" song compilation are part of the "Xin Kong Xia" National Schools Xinyao Festival 2022.
