Students Set to Showcase Creativity and Artistic Talents at Singapore Youth Festival 2022

Last Updated: 19 Apr 2022

News Press Releases

The Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 2022 is set to take place from April to August, with the SYF Arts Presentation kicking off the four-month long showcase and celebration of our students' achievements in the co-curricular activities. As more than 20,000 students gear up for the return of the SYF Arts Presentation this year, primary school students in particular can look forward to returning to the stage after a four-year hiatus.

SYF Arts Presentation 2022

2. This year's SYF Arts Presentation will commence on 21 April 2022 with Drama for junior colleges and Millennia Institute, as well as Marching Band for secondary schools. Primary school students in Band, Chinese Orchestra, Guzheng, Choir, Dance, and Instrumental Ensemble can join the SYF Arts Presentation in Term 3.

3. The SYF Arts Presentation for primary level will not be benchmarked this year as primary school students from co-curricular activities (CCAs) in the performing arts have not been able to fully practise and rehearse together in person over the past two years. However, participating primary schools will still receive feedback from the SYF panel of adjudicators.

4. We welcome members of the public to view the students' performances and show their support via Vimeo livestreaming. Performance schedules and livestream links can be accessed via https://www.syf.gov.sg/arts-presentation/syf-2022-ap-livestream-schedule.

SYFgoesonline! and SYF Art Exhibition 2022

5. SYF 2022 will also feature the digital platform "SYFgoesOnline!", as well as a physical SYF Art Exhibition, to allow students to showcase their wide-ranging talents in the arts.

6. "SYFgoesOnline!" was created in 2020 to allow students to showcase their creativity and artistic talents virtually, in spite of the pandemic. The digital platform for online performances will continue this year to provide students with more opportunities to take part in creative arts performances. From now till 6 May, students can participate in online activities and projects spanning the multiple disciplines of art, dance, drama and music. Shortlisted submissions will be showcased on the SYF website and social media platforms from 21 May 2022. Please see Annex for more details.

7. This year's SYF Art Exhibition, themed "Artist and Sustainability", invites secondary school, junior college and Millennia Institute student artists to create artworks that reflect how individual efforts and collective actions promote sustainability and make a positive impact on the world. The Exhibition will be held at the National Museum of Singapore from 1 to 28 July, and complemented by an online showcase on the SYF website from 1 July.
