Last Updated: 18 Jul 2022
Using skits, TikTok videos and TED talk-style oral presentations, student teams from 40 schools competed on the most creative ideas to promote Malay culture and etiquette for this year's Malay Finesse Video Competition, which was held during the June school holidays. Eight schools have emerged as top award winners and received their prizes at this year's Malay Finesse Fiesta on 16 July 2022 (See Annex A for full list of award winners). Award winning entries will be published on the Facebook and Instagram pages of the Malay Language and Learning Promotion Committee (MLLPC).
2. Second Minister for Education Dr Maliki Osman delivered a speech at the event, emphasising the importance of developing creative methods to impart Malay culture and values to young children, and expressing his hope that the next generation will continue to learn and appreciate Malay values and heritage. (See Annex B for transcript of pre-recorded speech).
3. Now in its third year, Malay Finesse Fiesta is part of the MLLPC's efforts to cultivate a generation of Malays with a strong awareness and appreciation of Malay finesse, which refers to social customs and etiquette that are important to Malay culture. The Fiesta will feature exhibition booths that demonstrate Malay finesse in everyday life. At this year's event, close to 50 participating schools will attempt to enter the Singapore Book of Records for creating the largest display of original Malay poems.
