Working Visit by Minister Chan Chun Sing to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

1.Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, will make a working visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 22 July 2022 in his capacity as the President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Council.
2. During his visit, Minister Chan will meet Malaysia's Senior Minister of Education Dr Radzi Jidin and other Cabinet members. Minister Chan will also visit the SEAMEO Tropical Medicine Centre, which specialises in microbiology, parasitology and entomology, to learn more about its contributions to science and education in Southeast Asia.
3. The SEAMEO was formed in 1965 to promote co-operation among Southeast Asian nations through education, science and culture. SEAMEO member countries comprise Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam. Singapore assumed presidency of the SEAMEO Council in 2021 for a two-year term.
4. Minister Chan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education, as well as the Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat, Dr Ethel Valenzuela for the SEAMEO-related visits.
