Six Teachers Recognised at Most Inspiring Tamil Teachers' Award Ceremony 2023

Six teachers received the Most Inspiring Tamil Teachers' (MITT) Award in recognition of their contributions to the teaching and learning of the Tamil Language. Three teachers were also presented with the Best NIE Tamil Trainee Teacher Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. See Annex for list of award recipients.
2. Guest-of-Honour Ms Indranee Thurai Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development presented the awards to the recipients at the Awards Ceremony, which was livestreamed on the Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee (TLLPC) YouTube and Facebook page.
3. Jointly presented by Tamil Murasu, Singapore Tamil Teachers' Union and the TLLPC, the MITT Award recognises the stellar performance of our Tamil Language teachers in their role in educating and promoting the language among their students. Each award recipient will receive a trophy, a certificate of achievement and a cash grant.
4. All Tamil Language teachers in local mainstream schools were eligible to be nominated for the MITT Award. This year, 596 nominations for 179 teachers were received between February and April.
5. The awardees were selected by a panel of judges comprising key representatives and members from the teaching fraternity, TLLPC, Tamil Murasu and the Singapore Tamil Teachers' Union. Since the Award's inception in 2002, it has recognised over 200 inspiring Tamil Language educators in our primary, secondary schools, junior colleges and Millennia Institute, and the award winners have been role models to other Tamil Language educators in nurturing our students' love for the language.
