Three Teachers Recognised for Contributions to Teaching and Learning of Malay Language

Three Malay Language teachers received the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award in recognition of their contributions to the teaching and learning of the Malay Language. Guest-of-Honour Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law presented the awards to the recipients at an award ceremony. 2. Now in its 17th year, the Awards have recognised a total of 74 primary, secondary and pre-university Malay Language teachers. The Awards are presented in two categories: the Role Model Category for teachers with 10 years or more of teaching service, and the Motivation Category for teachers with less than 10 years of teaching service.
3. All Malay Language teachers in local mainstream schools were eligible for nomination, based on their performance and contributions from 2021 to 2022. This year, 261 nominations for 53 teachers were received between February to March. The awardees were selected by a panel of judges comprising community leaders, academics from institutions of higher learning, school leaders and representatives from the media.
4. The Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award is jointly organised by the Malay Language Council Singapore, Malay Language Teachers Association, Berita Harian, and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC). For more information, please visit https://www.mllpc.sg.
