28 Preschool Teachers Recognised for Using Storytelling Aids to Cultivate Love for Chinese Language Learning

Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), Ms Gan Siow Huang, and Member of Parliament of Jurong GRC and Leader of CPCLL Preschool Group, Mr Xie Yao Quan presented awards to the top three groups of winners for the Preschool Storytelling Aids Competition 20241(2024年学前华文教师故事教具制作比赛). The competition aims to encourage preschool Chinese Language (CL) teachers to engage children using creative storytelling to nurture their interest in learning the language. The awards were presented to 28 teachers at the annual Seminar for Preschool Chinese Language Teachers. See Annex for the list of winning teams.

2. At the event, MOS Gan launched the Teaching Aid Booklet titled 《创意教具说故事》(第二辑)2. Compiled from entries of finalists in the Preschool Chinese Language Storytelling Aids Competition from 2021 to 2023, the booklet aims to inspire preschool teachers on the use of creative and effective teaching approaches to engage and excite children to learn the language. Two copies of the publication will be distributed to all preschool Anchor Operations and Partner operators by August 2024.

Close to 1,000 CL teachers participated in the Seminar for Preschool Chinese Language Teachers 2024, themed "Children's Play and Exploration" (幼儿游戏与学习), at Eunoia Junior College (EJC) on 13 July 2024. Organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and supported by the Early Childhood Development Agency, National Institute of Early Childhood Development and EJC, the annual seminar serves as a platform for CL teachers to enhance their teaching skills and grow their professional support network.
