Three Teachers Recognised for Contributions to Teaching and Learning of Malay Language

Three Malay Language teachers were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the teaching and learning of the Malay Language at the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award Ceremony on Saturday, 26 October 2024. Guest of Honour Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, presented the awards to the recipients. See Annex for list of award recipients.

2. Since 2007, the Awards have recognised 77 primary, secondary and pre-university Malay Language teachers. The Awards are presented in two categories: (i) Role Model Category for teachers of 10 years or more in teaching service, and (ii) Motivation Category for teachers of less than 10 years in teaching service.

3. All Malay Language teachers in local mainstream schools were eligible for the nomination, based on their performance and contributions from 2022 to 2023. This year, 394 nominations were received between February and April. The awardees were selected by a panel of judges comprising community leaders, academics from Institutes of Higher Learning, school leaders and representatives from the media.

4. The Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award is jointly organised by the Malay Language Council Singapore, Malay Language Teachers Association, Berita Harian, and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee. For more information, please visit https://www.mllpc.sg.
