2025 MOE Kindergarten Open House and Registration Exercise
Last Updated: 16 Jan 2025
1. The Ministry of Education (MOE) would like to invite parents to register their child for Kindergarten 1 (K1) admission in 2026 during the upcoming MOE Kindergarten (MK) Registration Exercise that will be held from 7 to 17 February 2025. 56 MKs will be participating in this year's exercise, including one new MK, MK@Pioneer, which will be opening in 2026.1 Parents are invited to attend the open houses of individual MKs on 8 or 15 February 2025 to learn more about their programmes and facilities, prior to registration.
MKs Provide Quality and Affordable Preschool Education
2. The Government is committed to providing a good start for every child. MKs provide quality and affordable preschool education for children aged five to six. The MK curriculum is designed by curriculum specialists to nurture children holistically in an enriching learning environment, so that they are confident, possess strong social skills, have a good foundation in literacy and numeracy, and are well prepared for Primary 1 (P1). All MKs offer the three Mother Tongue Languages (MTLs) – Chinese, Malay and Tamil – to encourage bilingualism in the early years and help lay a strong foundation for language learning. For parents who require a full-day care service for their child, Kindergarten Care (KCare) service is available in all MKs.2
3. Singapore Citizen (SC) and Permanent Resident (PR) children from MK will also enjoy priority admission to the primary school where the MK is located, subject to available vacancies.3 MKs will work closely with their primary schools to smoothen and ease the children's transition from Kindergarten to P1.
Details of 2025 MK Registration Exercise
4. The 2025 MK Registration Exercise is open to SC and PR children born between 2 January 2021 and 1 January 2022, both dates inclusive. Parents can register their child for admission to an MK via the MK website (www.moe.gov.sg/mk), from 9am on 7 February 2025 to 4pm on 17 February 2025.4 Parents will be informed of the registration outcome by 15 April 2025. Parents seeking admission to K1 or K2 for their child outside the registration period, should contact the MK directly to check if there are vacancies.5
Partnering New Anchor Operators (AOPs) for MK-Early Years Centre (MK-EYC) Model6
5. The MK-EYC model provides a continuum of preschool education for children aged two months to six years. This provides a smooth transition and convenience for parents, as eligible children in the EYCs are guaranteed a place at a partner MK and can choose to enrol at the partner MK to continue their K1 and K2 programme.
6. MOE will be expanding the MK-EYC partnerships to provide families with additional options. Starting from this year's MK Registration Exercise, MOE will be partnering with E-Bridge Pre-school Pte Ltd in addition to PCF Sparkletots and My First Skool. The new E-Bridge Preschool at Tengah Gardens will be partnered with MK@Pioneer. Collectively, these three AOPs will operate a total of 60 EYCs for children aged two months to four years in 2025.
7. Parents may use SchoolFinder (www.moe.gov.sg/schoolfinder) to find MKs near their residence that have partner EYCs. This year's registration exercise will also include an expanded MK-EYC partnership cluster in Tampines.7 More information on the MK-EYC partnership is available on the MK website (www.moe.gov.sg/preschool/moe-kindergarten/mk-eyc).
2025 Mk Open Houses
8. The 56 MKs participating in the 2025 MK Registration Exercise will hold their open houses on either 8 or 15 February 2025. Parents are encouraged to visit and learn more about each MK's curriculum, programmes, interactive learning environment and facilities, as well as speak to the MK Educators. The open houses will allow parents to better understand the MKs before registering their child in their preferred MKs. The dates for each MK's Open House can be found in the Annex.
