Nominations Open for Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award 2025

From 3 February to 4 April 2025, students, educators, parents, and members of the public are invited to nominate outstanding Malay Language teachers for the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award (AGAB) 2025.

2. Jointly organised by the Malay Language Council, Malay Language Teachers Association, Berita Harian and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee, the AGAB recognises Malay Language teachers from primary and secondary schools, junior colleges, and Millennia Institute who have made significant contributions to the teaching of the Malay Language. Nominees will be evaluated based on their ability to:

  • Nurture students' interest in the Malay language, literature and culture through innovative pedagogies, including the effective use of educational technology to make learning engaging and interactive while developing students' 21st Century Competencies to be future-ready;
  • Demonstrate care and concern for their students and have a keen interest in their well-being; and
  • Display the values of Arif Budiman, a learned person who contributes to society through excellent and exemplary service as an educator.

3. Since its inauguration in 2007, the AGAB has recognised a total of 80 primary, secondary and pre-university Malay Language teachers. This year, awards will be given out under the following categories: (i) Motivation (less than 10 years in the teaching service), and (ii) Role Model (10 years and above in the teaching service).

4. The AGAB nomination form can be downloaded from www.mbms.sg www.mllpc.sg and www.beritaharian.sg. Nominations can also be made online via https://go.gov.sg/agab2025. Award recipients will be announced in November this year.
