大家早上好！
1. 非常高兴出席今天的颁奖典礼。"全国杰出华文教师奖"至今年已有25年。这奖项的目的，是要肯定本地华文教师对华文教育，还有华文传承的贡献。
2. 这几年因为疫情的关系，教师们面对种种的困难。但教师们却积极地掌握新科技，探讨新的教学策略。据我所知，现在我们多数的华文教师都能在线上教课，也能够制作精彩有趣的课件。
3. 我们的华文教师采取各种方法，提升学生对华文的兴趣，其中就包括新闻时事。通过新闻时事，学生可以认识怎样用母语在生活上运用，了解它的实用性。今年3月，教育部、义安公司和新报业媒体就签署了谅 解备忘录，推出"新闻在指尖"（News at your Fingertips）计划。修读母语的中学生可以免费阅读早报，马来文报和淡米尔文报，教师也能够使用相关资源，丰富教学内容。
5. 让我来举几个例子。今年的获奖者之一，菩提学校的杜慧颖老师 就利用了脱口秀、相声等综艺节目，以幽默的语言吸引学生。她也带领同事举办"字谜花园"，帮助学生识字。这两三年来，听说许多学生都掌握了猜字谜的方法，不但自己会猜，也会出题让其他的学生猜。我也期待，以后会有机会，参加这个活动！
6. 另一位得奖教师来自 圣伯特理中学校的康贤斌老师。康老师常常跟学生分享生活经历，与学生打成一片，一起打排球、分享健身的心得。康老师相信，要让学生接受你，他们才不会抗拒你所教的科目。康老师，我非常赞同这一点，谢谢！
7. 其实我们还有很多华文教师像他们一样，都在为帮助学生学好华文，积极做出各种尝试。与此同时，教师们也不断自我提升，丰富自己的人生经验，将所学与学生分享。教育部鼓励我们的老师参与教师实习计划，到其他业界开拓视野，累积更广泛的生活经验。自一月份我们推出了"提升版"的教师实习计划.从一月到现在，已经有80名教师完成实习。其中，德新中学的 李美燕老师 和 维新小学的 赵一瑾老师到了《联合早报》实习四个星期，深入了解新闻报道和撰稿工作。他们计划将所学到的东西融入教学，丰富学生的学习。
8. 我很欣慰看到我们的老师 不忘初衷，使用各种方法，引起学生对学习华文的兴趣。我要忠诚的感谢所有老师的付出。老师，尤其母语老师，其实特别辛苦。我们的母语老师的努力需要更多的肯定。在此我也要向我们八位得奖的老师致敬。谢谢你们尽心尽力，把教学推向更高的领域。
9. Let me say a few words in English. At the Ministry of Education, our objective is to push our students to learn mother tongue to as high a level as possible, and for as long as possible. And over the many decades, generations of mother tongue language teachers have remained unremitting in their efforts to inculcate interest and appreciation of mother tongue – not easy but our Mother Tongue teachers have been persevering and striving on. I am grateful also for the support of partners like SPH Media for organising events and programmes that promote mother tongue language learning, and also for recognising outstanding educators in the field. I hope that our eight award recipients today, being role models, will be encouragement to other mother tongue teachers in our schools. I hope that together with the community, with partners, with parents, we will be able to support mother tongue learning for our children. I am quite sure by working together, we will be able to create a brighter future for our children. Thank you.
