Change of private school name

You must get our approval if you wish to change your school's name.

Considerations for School Name

Please take note of the following when considering a change of school name:

  • The proposed school name should reflect the curriculum and type of courses to be offered by the school. For example, a language school may be named “—— Language School'.
  • Words such as ‘Singapore’ or ‘National’,. should not be used as they imply government ownership or affiliation.
  • If your proposed school name includes abbreviations please state what they stand for.

The proposed school name must align with the company name of the private school owner as registered with ACRA and reflects a place of learning (e.g., if the proposed school name is "ABC Tuition Centre," the business name should be "ABC Tuition Centre Pte Ltd" or “ABC Tuition Centre LLP”). Please note we reserve the right to reject registration of any proposed name for a school deemed unsuitable or misleading.

How to notify us

You will need to obtain our approval for your change of schoolname online via GoBusiness using your company’s CorpPass.

Follow these steps when registering:

  1. Go to ‘Licences’ menu and select ‘My Licences’ from the drop-down list. Search for your existing licence (i.e., “Licence No.: DXXXX • MOE”) which you would like to amend.
  2. Under the ‘Select Action’ click ‘Amend’.
  3. Confirm your school’s ‘General Information’, you may update your email address and contact number if needed.
  4. Click on the ‘Application Details’ to move to next section.
  5. Click on the radio button for ‘Change of Private School Name’.
  6. Follow the steps on the screen to complete the application.

Documents required and how to submit

You will need to email the following to us:

1. Latest business profile from Bizfile+

2. One of the following, indicating a change in school name:

  • Note from owner, if sole-proprietorship
  • Note from partners, if ownership is a partnership business or a limited liability partnership
  • Directors' Resolution, if ownership of school is a company

Note:
  • Please upload the Original Certificate of Registration of School and Classroom Accommodation Certificates, if available.

After you submit your application online

If amendments or clarifications are required, please await contact from the case officer, who will reach out via email or through the "Request for Action (RFA)" feature in the online application. Upon approval, you will receive an email from GoBusiness to make the required payment online. Please pay the applicable fee via GoBusiness within 60 days . You will receive the relevant certificates (e-copy) after payment has been made.
