School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans-Secondary (SPERS-Sec)

 

Applications for the 2026 SPERS-Sec open from Wednesday, 8 July 2026 to Friday, 17 July 2026.

The tests will be conducted between 1 September and 3 September 2026.

Returning Singaporeans (RS) who are unable to return to Singapore for the SPERS-Sec tests may participate in the Supplementary Placement Exercise.

RSes are encouraged to submit their applications early to avoid missing the application period.

1. Overview

What is SPERS-Sec

SPERS-Sec is a centralised placement exercise conducted for Returning Singaporeans (RS) who wish to join a secondary school at Secondary 1, 2 or 3 at the beginning of the next academic year.

It is not compulsory and is intended for those who prefer to seek admission to a secondary school based on merit. More than 90% of applicants were posted to a secondary school within their 6 choices.

 

RSes who are seeking a secondary school place near their Singapore residence are encouraged to apply for the Assured School Placement (ASP) service.

It is a convenient admission route which guarantees your child a place in a school with vacancies as near to your residential address as possible, even before your child returns to Singapore.

Your child will not need to sit for any centralised test, although the school can conduct school-based tests and/or interview to determine the level and course/posting group for your child. Learn about the ASP service.

Receive entry proof

If your application is approved and payment is successful, you will receive an email informing you to retrieve your child’s entry proof from the CP.

Take tests

Your child will take tests for English and Mathematics in Singapore between Tuesday, 1 September 2026 and Thursday, 3 September 2026

Submit school choices

View your child’s list of eligible schools and submit school choices via the SPERS-Sec Portal from 8.30am on Friday, 13 November 2026 to 4.30pm on Tuesday, 17 November 2026 (Singapore time).

View posting results for Secondary 2 and 3 students

View your child's posting results by logging in to the SPERS-Sec Portal from 8.30am (Singapore Time). Your child has to report to school by Wednesday, 30 December 2026.
