Applied Learning Modules - ApLM
Applied Learning Modules (ApLM) are enrichment modules that broaden the learning experiences of students and complement the secondary school curriculum with a focus on the practical application of knowledge.
What is ApLM
ApLM are enrichment modules that broaden the learning experiences of students and complement the secondary school curriculum with a focus on the practical application of knowledge. These modules provide our students with applied learning opportunities – learning that involves learning by doing, learning about the real world, and learning for life. It allows students to discover their interests and strengths and make informed education and career choices.
Schools can choose from the following categories of ApLM:
ApLM@ITE and ApLM@Poly
These are 3-day modules designed and conducted by ITE and the 5 polytechnics at their respective campuses.
The modules are offered in the following subject clusters:
- Mathematics and Science
- Business and Services
- Media and Design
- Information Technology
- Engineering
- Hospitality and Tourism
Students can participate in these modules starting from May of their Secondary 2 year.

ApLM@Schools
These are 20-hour to 25-hour modules designed and conducted by private vendors engaged by the school.
Students can participate in these modules starting from Jan of their Secondary 2 year.
- Each student can participate in up to 3 ApLM throughout their secondary education.
- Schools are highly encouraged to enrol students in at least 1 ApLM throughout their secondary education, in particular ApLM@ITE or ApLM@Poly, as these provide students with stronger education and career guidance (ECG) through authentic and immersive learning experiences at ITE and the Polytechnics respectively.
