The SgIS Award Ceremony 2024 was held on Wednesday, 31 July 2024. Find out more!

SgIS Award Ceremony 2024
204 students received the Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) at the 2024 SgIS Award Ceremony on 31 July 2024, the highest since the scholarship was established in 2012. Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, was the Guest-of-Honour at the ceremony.

Launched in 2012, the SgIS is the only scholarship offered in partnership between the Government and local industries. SgIS has established itself as one of the choice scholarships in Singapore, growing from 28 Sponsoring Organisations (SOs) in 2012 to 149 this year. The 149 SOs come from 16 key sectors, including biomedical and pharmaceuticals, electronics, engineering, lifestyle and food, and social services. Since its inception, the SgIS has awarded scholarships to more than 1,600 recipients.

The growing number of SOs and their strong support for SgIS provide good career opportunities for our students and will develop a Singaporean core to support strategic sectors. It also highlights the importance Government and local industries place on developing a pipeline of local talent, which is essential for Singapore’s economy and businesses in the long run.

By end-2024, about 1,200 SgIS scholars would have graduated from university. They will be part of a sustainable pipeline of industry leaders who can drive Singapore’s economic growth.
