Sembcorp Specialised Construction (SSC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of public-listed Sembcorp Industries. SSC is a design and build construction service provider with an in-housemulti-disciplinary design consultancy capability led by a dedicated team of professionals to undertake building, civil engineering, and infrastructure projects and has a history dated back to 1982.
Today, SSC is registered with the Building Construction Authority of Singapore as an A1 Contracting firm in both General Building (CW01), and Civil Engineering (CW02) with unlimited tendering limits in public sector construction projects.
Sembcorp Architects & Engineers (SCAE) is a fully owned subsidiary and engineering arm of SSC. Officially incorporated on 30 April 1992, it has been granted licenses of Practice under the Architects Act 1991, The Professional Engineers Act 1991, and The Land Surveyors Act 2005 to provide professional services as a private limited corporation. This is a multi-disciplinary professional consultancy firm and listed in BCA Public Sector Panel of Consultants (Panel 1 – Unlimited) with specialisation in providing Project Management, Master Planning, Architectural, Civil & Structural, Mechanical & Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Land Surveying Services.
Strong partnership with MINDEF
SSC is a strong partner with the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) in the design and construction of specialised infrastructure to support MINDEF's requirements.
SSC has a long-standing relationship with MINDEF and has, over the years, built many infrastructures critical to National Defence.
One of such unique and critical facility is the Underground Ammunition Facility (UAF). Together with SCAE, SSC deployed new methods and state of the art technology during that time to build this infrastructure. Today, the UAF remains to be first of its kind in our region.
SSC together with SCAE was also involved in the development of Changi Naval Base.
Today, SSC is supporting MINDEF in the relocation of Paya Lebar Airbase (PLAB).
Potential career path and developmental opportunities for scholars
The available job roles in the organisation includes both build/ design engineers for the following disciplines: 1) Civil & Structural, 2) Mechanical, 3) Electrical, 4) Contracts 5) BIM and lastly Architectural Associates.
As SSC/ SCAE staff progresses in the organisation, they would be able to choose 2 main career paths: 1) Project Management, or 2) Professional Engineer/ Registered Architect. As a scholar within SSC/ SCAE, you would be able to experience both Design and Build roles within the same organisation. You will also be exposed to learning & development opportunities to hone your technical expertise and groom your leadership skills.
