Eight Teachers Receive Top Honours for Dedication and Excellence in Education

1. Eight outstanding educators received this year's President's Award for Teachers from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the annual Teachers' Day Reception on 29 August 2024. The recipients are:

2. President Tharman said: "Our teachers are true nation-builders. They nurture the next generation of Singaporeans who will do their part for the good of society. My heartiest congratulations to all eight winners of this year's Award. You inspire not only our students, but your peers as well."

3. This year's recipients were selected from 18 finalists who were judged by a panel chaired by Mr Patrick Tay, Chairperson of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education. The panel included representatives from the Ministry of Education (MOE), Post-Secondary Education Institutions, as well as the Community and Parents in Support of Schools, a council established in December 1998 to advise MOE on strengthening and promoting school-home-community collaboration. A total of 4,798 educators from 332 schools and post-secondary education institutions were nominated by school leaders, colleagues, parents, as well as former and current students. 4. Established in 1998, the President's Award for Teachers recognises outstanding educators for their dedication and hard work in nurturing our young. Award recipients will be able to participate in an overseas learning programme and share their learning with the education fraternity. Award finalists will receive a grant to attend either overseas or local conferences, seminars, or courses.
