Appointment and Appreciation Ceremony for Principals 2024
Last Updated: 27 Dec 2024
The Ministry of Education's (MOE) annual Appointment and Appreciation Ceremony for Principals (AACP) was held at Shangri-La Singapore today. The Guest-of-Honour, Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, welcomed the newly appointed and rotated Principals at the ceremony, while also acknowledging the contributions of retiring Principals, as well as retiring Senior Education Officers from MOE HQ who have formerly served as Principals.
2. This year, Principals leading Special Education (SPED) schools were also invited to attend the AACP. Their participation in the AACP henceforth recognises their vital role in our education system and celebrates their contributions and growth alongside the Principals of our mainstream schools as one fraternity. Please refer to the Annex for the list of SPED Principals appointed for 2025.
3. AACP 2024's theme of "Leaning in, Lifting up, Looking Out" focuses on the role of Principals today in making swift decisions, leading teams, and driving change in a complex world. "Leaning In" emphasises the importance of active listening and valuing team input. "Lifting Up" focuses on building the team's confidence, skills, and commitment. "Looking Out" encourages Principals to seek learning opportunities beyond the school and nation, and extending support within the education community.
4. Minister Chan said, "The inclusion of SPED principals in this year's ceremony underscores the Ministry's commitment to building an inclusive education fraternity. By bringing together leaders from both mainstream and SPED schools, we celebrate the diversity of expertise and perspectives that strengthen our collective mission—to nurture our students' potential and pave the way for their long-term growth."
5. This year's ceremony was attended by about 500 guests, including School Leaders, MOE HQ's senior management, and representatives from the School Advisory Committees / School Management Committees of mainstream and SPED schools.
