Our School Community

Our schools forge bonds beyond the school walls. Be it members of the community, parent volunteers, or non-teaching staff, they play an important role in enriching and complementing our students’ school life.

Food Security in Sustainability

Corporation Primary School

How do we make learning about sustainability fun and meaningful? Our Primary 3 students planted and harvested their own “Nai Bai” or Baby Pak Choy as part of our Applied Learning Programme, Urban Food Warriors. Seedlings were grown in a nutrient solution in our Hydroponics system. After four weeks, the crunchy Baby Pak Choy were harvested and packed by little hands. After being delivered to Gek Poh Ville Community Club, these were distributed to residents living nearby. Our students got to experience the joy of giving back to the community, while securing a supply of safe food for our future.

Harmonious

After two years of Covid-19 pandemic distractions, it is gratifying to see more celebrations in school. In July, we celebrated Racial Harmony Day, with activities lined up for students to play and make friends beyond their own race and religion. Various childhood games were introduced, such as pick-up sticks, aeroplane chess, and five stones. Their eyes shone with curiosity and excitement, a testament to how enriching the event was to their learning. Some parents even took the opportunity to interact and play with the students. It was the effort put in by teachers and parents that made this event happen.

Together We Can Show Love to Our Community and Environment

Through our school’s Art & Crafts Club partnership with Toa Payoh East Community Club, our members learned from the volunteers about how recycling can help to protect our environment. They also enjoyed learning about how they can repurpose plastic bags meaningfully for a good cause by turning these bags into flower craftwork to present it to their loved ones as a form of appreciation for the care that they have received. This partnership allowed our students to forge greater bonds with the community and allowed them to put their craftwork skills to good use.
