Our School Community

Let us shine a spotlight on our extended school family. From community and industry partners to parent-volunteers and non-teaching staff, they enrich our students’ learning experiences, and inspire them to give back to society.

Break From School
By Ely Anakin Bin Nor Sazly
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
Teacher Facilitator: Mdm Chee Hwai Mei

In my graduating year (JC2), I delved into capturing lasting school memories from school events to class bonding sessions.

It was satisfying taking these pictures as it not only allowed me to forever treasure these memories, but also share it with others.

Using the skills and knowledge I acquired from being in the photography club for six years, I experimented with compositions and settings to maximise sharpness and clarity.

I am grateful for the fun environment the school community has provided to me; these pictures shall be the evidence!

The Heartbeat of Our School Community
By Lee ZhuoXi
Xinmin Secondary School
Teacher Facilitator: Mr Arthur Lee Pei Pin

The word 'community' evokes feelings of connection, closeness, and camaraderie. Our close-knit relationships push one another to persevere and succeed.

In a volleyball match, players work together seamlessly towards a shared goal. Their synchronised movements and mutual trust showcase their strong bond.

Each match is not solely a display of skill, but rather, an indication of our collective strength and commitment as a team and school.

At Xinmin, we have many examples of our bonded school community, and this match perfectly captures our connection with each other.

Painting Hope: Our School’s Experience in Vietnam
By Eugene Tan Boon Hong
Deyi Secondary School
Teacher Facilitator: Mr Reeve Ng

On 9 November 2023, our school visited a village in Vietnam, immersing ourselves in the local community.

We painted vibrant murals, turning plain walls into colourful canvases that brought joy and pride to the villagers. We transported bricks to aid in construction and in the evenings, we taught science lessons to children, fostering connections beyond language barriers.

This experience enriched our understanding of community, hard work, and the power of giving back.
