Growing, Better, TogetherBy Mr Khoo Wei Lun Edwin
Hua Yi Secondary School
Why do I, as a teacher, love to go to school?
I love to see my students build meaningful relationships. Seeing my quiet ones share a moment, or peers working together, it spurs me on.
I love to watch my students grow in character. When I spot them serving one another, it warms my heart.
I enjoy seeing them succeed and fail, grow and make mistakes because both the sweet and the bitter give flavour to life.
As we spend the years together, we will look back at these common experiences and laugh. This gives me unspeakable joy!
That's why I love school.

New BeginningsBy Mr Ng Chin Yong Ivan
South View Primary School
The first day of school for Primary 1 students is always a momentous occasion filled with excitement, anticipation, and a touch of nervousness.
Parents hold their children's hands tightly, their faces reflecting a mix of pride and bittersweet emotions. The little ones, in crisp uniforms and new schoolbags, are ready to take on primary school. Hugs and whispered words of encouragement are exchanged before the children join their new friends in class.
The first recess bell also signifies a new experience of managing their money for food purchases, and a brief reunion with their parents.
The day ends with new memories, and the promise of more exciting days to come in their educational journey.

Democracy in Action: Our Future LeadersBy Ms Carine Oh Chew Hoon
Sembawang Primary School
Students get a unique opportunity to experience a real election at the annual Head Prefect Election Day.
Candidates visit classes to introduce themselves, and converse with the principal. Other student leaders work at the polling stations, assisting their peers to cast votes. Teachers count votes in front of candidates for transparency and fairness.
This hands-on experience allows students to understand the democratic process and the importance of voting.
The event creates unforgettable moments of joy, learning, and camaraderie, making it a priceless moment of their school journey.
